After meeting with our client at her newly acquired bungalow near the Eden development in Surrey, we quickly saw what a fantastic purchase she had made. This run down bungalow backed onto the most phenomenal lake, with a noisy peacock just waiting to show us around, the rustic wildlife of the property really shone through. This idyllic setting made our job in reshuffling the floor plate and designing her kitchen an easy task. She wanted it to be a contemporary, chic and high end, without paying more than she had for the house to create it. Firstly we suggested switching the 3rd bedroom and kitchen over, so that the garage opening was into her living area rather the bedroom. After many ideas were tossed between us, she settled on an L shape open plan living area, with the kitchen being the statement piece. This enabled her to gaze out onto the lake, socialise with her guests whilst creating culinary treats and also remain practical for her needs. As the client is a wheelchair user, the space had to be practical as well as stylistically stunning. You would certainly never guess ergonomic allowances and practical changes have been made to better accommodate her in the space. Instead all you see is her fantastic taste and boldness for using on trend colours like Emerald green in her splash back, and contrasting off white units and granite worktops; this kitchen is the essence of innovative contemporary style.
